You’ve seen photos of self-driving cars zooming down California highways and read about lawyers that are actually chatbots. These are some of our first encounters with automation and artificial intelligence (AI). And if you’re wondering how these types of technology will change the ways we work and live, you’re not alone.

There's no shortage of predictions.

Immigrants and refugees have always been a source of our Nation’s strength.

First-quarter economic growth was revised up 0.3 percentage point to 1.1 percent at an annual rate. Strong growth in residential investment boosted real GDP growth, but weakness in business investment—exacerbated by weak foreign demand and low oil prices—weighed on growth. Going forward, increased uncertainty, including uncertainty regarding the consequences of British voters' decision last week to leave the European Union, underscores the importance of proactive policy steps to strengthen the U.S.

President Obama has teamed up with Buzzfeed and TurboVote to launch "Turn Up the Vote," an initiative to encourage people to engage in the democratic process and register to vote.

Your vote is not only the most powerful tool we have to shape our collective future, it's easy for you to do. In fact, watch President Obama do a few things that are harder than registering to vote:

As American citizens, the only way we can choose our public leaders is through our vote. We cannot take that for granted.

On Friday, June 24, President Obama designated the Stonewall National Monument – the first national monument dedicated to telling the story of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community’s struggle for equal rights. In this week’s address, the President talked about the importance of preserving and sharing this significant part of the American story.

This week was full of travel, as the First Family took a break from the big city -- and a breath of fresh air -- in Yosemite and the Carlsbad Caverns. Dr. Biden headed south to Central and South America, and the Vice President traced his roots in Ireland.

On behalf of First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, we are pleased to welcome United States Army Colonel William T. Johnson as the new Executive Director of Joining Forces.

We are thrilled to welcome Will aboard and are excited for him to continue the initiative’s work to support our Nation’s service members, veterans, and their families.
